HOLLAND ISD NEWS RELEASE

During a special meeting on March 17, 2025, Holland ISD Board of Trustees named Jennisty Thomason as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools. By state law, the Board must now wait 21 days before it can vote to officially hire her as the new superintendent.

Mrs. Thomason, a veteran educator with 18 years of experience in public education, started her career as a middle school teacher and is currently the principal at Holland Elementary. In addition to her current leadership experience, she has been a campus leader at the middle school and high school levels. Prior to her time in Holland ISD, she served in a variety of roles within Belton ISD.

“The district is proud to promote Jennisty Thomason to this position. She brings a wealth of knowledge spanning K-12. She will bring new ideas and continue to build upon our unique culture, which makes everyone proud to be a part of the Hornet Community/Family,“ said Jill Marwitz, Board President.

Mrs. Thomason is a skilled and experienced leader who always has the students’ best interests in mind. Her outstanding work ethic and commitment to the Holland community are evident. She is passionate about helping every single student and staff member reach their full potential. In addition to her outstanding leadership skills, she is devoted to her family. She and her husband Ricky are proud parents to two children who are currently Holland Hornets.

Selection Process and Waiting Period

The process of selecting a new superintendent began in January 2025 and included a survey that allowed the board to receive input from parents, staff, and community members regarding the most desired characteristics of the district’s next leader.

Superintendent Shane Downing will continue to operate as the district leader through June of the current school year. The Holland ISD Board of Trustees is expected to officially hire Mrs. Thomason as its new Superintendent during its April board meeting
