Important Guidelines & Procedures

  • Official Channels Only: Under Texas law, a request for public information is only considered official if it is submitted through the designated mail, or hand-delivery channels listed above. Requests sent to individual teachers, principals, or non-designated staff members do not trigger the legal timeline.
  • Clarity Matters: Please be as specific as possible regarding dates, names, and topics. If your request is unclear or overly broad, the District will not contact you to clarify or narrow your request.
  • Charges and Fees: The District complies with the cost rules established by the Texas Attorney General. You will be provided with an itemized cost estimate before any work is performed and all fees must be paid in advance.
  • Timelines: The District makes every effort to produce requested information as promptly as possible. If the information cannot be produced within 10 business days, you will receive written notification of the date it will be available.
  • Exceptions to Disclosure: Certain student records, personnel files, and legal documents are confidential or protected under federal and state laws (such as FERPA).
