Hi, I'm Tiffany Miles, and I am so excited to be your child's PreK teacher this year.  I absolutely love teaching PreK.  This will be my 20th year teaching and my 5th year teaching our amazing PreK Hornets.

I grew up in the area and went to school in Rogers from K-12.  My husband, Marshall, is a graduate of Holland ISD and attended school here from K-12 as well.  We both attended and graduated from Texas A&M University.  Whoop!  We have been married for 19 years and have two wonderful kids.  Kase, an 8th grader, and Matilla "Tilley", a 3rd grader.  We also have 1 rambunctious puppy, Bandit, and 2 cats named Camo & Sunny.  We love to be outdoors as a family and go hunting, fishing, riding on the Ranger, RV and tent camping, playing ball, swimming, etc.

Attendance

It is important for your child to come to school daily to fully participate and succeed academically, socially, and emotionally; however, due to the continued concern in regards to the pandemic, please do not send your child to school if they are sick.  Please refer to the Holland ISD policy for more details.  Thank you for doing your part to keep our littlest Hornets healthy.

Behavior Expectations

To encourage positive behavior in our classroom we need to teach students the classroom rules, routines, and procedures so they can learn how to self-regulate. Behavior is a skill that must be learned, just like learning how to tie your shoes or recite the alphabet is a skill that you learned when you were a child.  In Pre-K we will be continuously modeling and practicing this skill. Pre-K will use a ticket incentive behavior management system. Tickets can be redeemed in our class store.

Orange Ticket: They had a great & expected day

Purple Ticket: They had an outstanding & role model day

Yellow Ticket: A rule reminder card

Behavior/ticket color will be noted in the take home folders and/or communicated through ClassDojo.  See behavior expectations for further detail.

Behavior Incentives

Each Friday, students will be given the opportunity to participate in Fun Friday stations if they have not received two or more yellow tickets that week.  Students will be rewarded for their good behavior with a fun time in which special games and puzzles are brought out to be played with.

‘Ticket Store’ will be every 2 weeks.  Students collect their daily behavior tickets to be spent for various prizes such as: stinky feet, feed the pets, bring a stuffed animal to class, treasure box, and picnic.  If the student has three or more yellow tickets in that 2 week period they will not be allowed to purchase treasure box.  This is to incentivize and reward good behavior.

Holland ISD Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will have a ‘reward party’ at the end of the 9 week grading period to reward students for good behavior.  Students will have the opportunity to attend the reward party if they did not receive 9 or more yellow tickets in the grading period.

Change of Clothes

Please send a change of clothes in a labeled Ziplock bag to be kept at school.

Include: shirt, shorts, underwear, and socks.

Nap Time

Students are encouraged to nap for one hour a day.  Nap mats are provided.

Please send a light blanket that will fit in their backpack.  The blanket will be returned daily in their backpacks. Please no big nap mat sleeping bags. Please wash the blanket weekly.

Water

Please send a labeled water bottle daily.  We have access to refill the bottle as needed.  A covered top is recommended. Please wash this daily.

Class Pet

We have a class pet in our classroom. She is a rabbit named, Pam. She loves to get out of her cage and hop around our room to interact with our kids. Pam helps to teach our kids responsibility and how to handle our pets correctly.
